Cetuximab With Irinotecan Slows Progression For Patients With Colorectal Cancer: The EPIC Trial
Werner Scheithauer, Medical University of Vienna. For patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who have failed prior oxaliplatin therapy, cetuximab plus irinotecan could be the best treatment. This is according to a study that randomly assigned patients to irinotecan with or without cetuximab. Sarah Maxwell spoke to EPIC Trial author Werner Scheithauer.

Oral Capecitabine: As Good As Fluorouracil Second Line for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
David Cunningham, Royal Marsden Hospital, London. The oral agent capeticabine is just as effective as fluorouracil for treating patients whose metastatic colorectal cancer has relapsed. This is the finding of a study in which either agent was combined with oxaliplatin. David Cunningham told Peter Goodwin about his group's findings reported at the ECCO conference.

Hormone Refractory Prostate Cancer: Increased Progression-Free Survival With Satraplatin and Prednisone
Cora Sternberg, of San Camillo and Forlanini Hospital, Rome, speaking at ECCO 14. Satraplatin could provide a new option for patients with hormone refractory prostate cancer, by giving improved progression-free survival and time to pain progression. Anna Lacey spoke to Cora Sternberg about her group's results from an international phase III trial, which were announced in Barcelona.
